7:31PM - Jason's 2nd Birthday

Well I am happy to announce my little baby is now officially a little boy! Jason turned 2 on February 24th. He hasn't had his well baby check yet (we really want to meet with HIS doctor because he is a respiratory specialist so we decided to wait till end of March when he was available instead of just seeing one of the other doctors in the practice) so I don't have his official height/weight/percentiles as of now. I will post those when I get them. On Jason's birthday we went to the park and Jason had his FAVORITE dinner... sloppy joe mix and mac n cheese. Yes his favorite food is sloppy joe mix. No bread needed... just the sauced up meat. Haha. I love toddler food choices... For his birthday Jay got him a new baseball glove and his first pair of roller skates. I got him 101 Dalmations on DVD and FISH! Haha. I got him a fish tank and 2 orange fish to go in it. Sadly the tank pump already broke and one of the fish already died, but he hasn't noticed. He still loves to wave hi to his fish.

A couple day's before his actual birthday, on February 21st, we had his birthday party. It was Thomas the Train themed. It was so cute. We had about 40 people there, with 10 of them being little kids around Jason's age. They had so much fun. In the backyard we had a bouncy obstacle course, his birthday present from my mom which was a kiddie coaster, the swing set, a bubble machine, a pinata and his gift from his godfather... a ride on tractor. Needless to say we had 10 very very tired kiddos being dragged to their parent's car when the party ended! OK, no more explanation... on to the pictures...

Time to be a very useful engine... )Well I hope you all enjoyed looking at the pictures!

10:08PM - Being sick sucks

I feel like 100% crap right now. I have a lovely mix of allergies, a migraine, a mild cold and the lingering effects of my hangover from this morning. I was to curl in bed and disappear, but I have been lying down all day so my muscles are aching. Yuck. It always happens to me after a major event. My body makes it through the event and just crashes hard the next day. Sadly, I have a ton of work to do tomorrow at work, otherwise I would just call in and sleep through it. I think I will go in in the morning for just an hour or 2, get my timecards and my exec summary done and come home.

The event that just finished was my Mother/Son Dance I threw at work. I have been planning this since September 2008, so needless to say it has been a pretty big thing on my plate. Luckily it went really well for its first attempt. We had about 60 people in attendance. The DJ was awesome, everyone loved the nacho buffet (my favorite thing to serve for events! Cost efficient and always well recieved!) and all the boys had a great time! I was so worried the event wouldnt go well since boys don't like to dance, so I made it sports themed and we even played a mothers vs sons kickball game to get the boys into it, but we didnt even need the games. The DJ had the boys dancing by 6:15. He is seriously the best DJ ever. I already have him booked out for June's Daddy Daughter Dance and next years Mother/Son Dance.

Yesterday was also a pretty awesome day. I slept in, then played with Jason all morning. Then after he woke up from him 3 hour nap (!!!) we got dressed for the neighbor's daughter's cowgirl birthday party. Jason had fun until the neighbor (dressed as Wild Bill) came running in with a fake gun shouting that he "wanted a piece of cake and no one was getting their goody bags until he got some". He scared the crap out of Jason who wouldnt let go of me until he left. Haha. After the party we went home and got dressed because Jay and I went on a double date! At my conference a few weeks ago I met this girl named Tara (I think I had mentioned her in an earlier post). Well her, her fiance, Jay and I went to dinner at Chili's then went to Graham Central Station for some two stepping and to laugh at the karaoke people. It was a great time and it was nice to act like a grown up!

This week will be pretty busy. I have a lot of stuff to get together for the committee meetings next month, plus some training, plus my women's association meeting, then on Friday I am throwing a dance for 4th & 5th graders. They are all SOOO excited about us throwing a dance JUST for them. They have been talking about it for months, so I am pretty excited too.

Well my eyes are starting to hurt from the computer. The monitor does not help my migraine. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

12:47PM - Life is good I can't complain...

Hello All! I know most of you have been patiently DYING to hear about Jason's birthday and I am sorry I haven't posted earlier, but my camera cord broke. I hope to get a new one tonight so I can post the pictures tomorrow. So while the post will be sans pictures, I can still do a little catch up.

My dad has gone through 2 rounds of chemo and 3 rounds of radiation as of now and seems to be handling it well. He still got to play golf last Friday with Jay, Wyatt and Woody (and he played the best out of all 4 of them! Go Daddy!) and he did make it to Jason's birthday party. Yay!

Well last Monday started with Jason getting sick. I got a call from his daycare saying he had a 103.5 fever! Yikes! Turns out he had a flu like virus that is going around. Luckily last week my Father In Law (known as Woody) came in from Maryland so he could be here for Jason's birthday and Jay had like the entire week off so they could hang out, so that was cool. Jason recovered on Thursday night and was good to go for his party.

Saturday morning we all got up early. Jay's mom, step-dad and Aunt got there around 10 am. So did Jay's best friend Wyatt (Jasons godfather). About an hour later my best friend Kasey (jasons godmother) got to Austin and we went to payless where I got a super cute new pair of shoes. Think ballets flats meet mary janes. So fun.

Well the party got into full swing around 2. we had 35 people show. We talked and mingled from 2 to 3. We had a veggie, fruit, cheese and cracker assortment, chips with queso, salsa, and ranch dip, spiral deli sandwiches, little smokies and meatballs, pizza rolls, chicken nuggets with a choice of BBQ sauce or ketchup and hot wings. TONS of food! We also had a "match the picture to the months old" game. It was a 4 way tie of 7 out of 13 right. Hehe. I made it super hard! The tie breaker was whoever guessed the date closest to Jason's first live football game and Stacey, Jay's friend Joe's wife, won. At around 3 we played the slideshow video I made for Jason's birthday (its uploading to googlevideo as we speak so I will post a link once it is available.) Everyone loved it. Then we did presents. Jason got SOOO many toys! Hehe. I mean he already had a lot... now we can rival Toys R Us! Hehe. After cake (he liked his cupcake but was not a fan of the icing) he was exhausted! I walked him upstairs and he was asleep in less than 5 minutes and slept till about 7:30! A whole bunch of people stayed late, mostly family though. We cooked brisket for dinner and played with Jason's toys and took pictures. It was great fun.

The next day Jay's mom, aunt and step-dad came over and we made pastalaya (which was awesome) and sat outside on the back patio. It was a GORGEOUS day! Perfect in every way weather wise. The night before we had been talking about my history as a baton twirler so I pulled out my batons for the first time in 4 years and started doing my old routines. So Funny! I busted my finger on it at one point and now I have this huge nasty blood blister. YAY!

Also that day we discovered Jay's Jeep having serious issues. Turns out the piston head is cracked and it needs like $3K worth of work. The Jeep itself is only worth $3.5K. Hehe. So yeah, we sold it to carmax and are in the process of finding a new vehicle. Im leaning toward a 2008 Kia Rio (since its extremely affordable, practical, and has the JD Power award for overall vehicle satistfaction!) but Jay wants this 2006 Pontiac G6 which is 2 years old, $2K more and doesn't have a warranty. He is very anti-Kia for no reason and its annoying. Oh well. We should have it all resolved today.

Finally, lately I have been feeling like something is missing from my life. I have the house, the kid, the husband, the job, and tons of friends. I couldnt figure out what it could be. Well last night I went to the Brushy Creek Women's Association meeting to introduce myself and talk about upcoming activities at the community center. Well one of the members had suggested to me to stay the entire time because I am just the type of woman they try to have join. I was hesitant though. Well I stayed and I LOVED them! The main activities they do is a meeting once a month, playgroups, scrapbooking, ladies night out and a book club. OMG... could that be any more me? After the meeting we went out to Z Tejas for drinks and I felt like I finally found that thing I had been missing! In high school I had the close circle of friends, then in college I had my sorority. Since graduating I don't have that many proximity close friends. I have a ton of people I can call on the phone to chat, but none that I could say "meet me at Chilis for dinner" and have them be able to show up. Everyone is sooo busy with school, jobs, husbands/bfs, etc or they live at least an hour away. They have to pencil me in weeks in advance just for dinner or the stars have to align to go to a movie. PLUS a lot of them arent at the mommy stage, and thats a HUGE part of my life. All these women are married and pretty much all of them have kids or are TTC. In fact, most of their kids attend the Parent's Night Out's that I run at the community center, so I already know their kids. Its Awesome! Having my glass of wine surrounded by 13 women who I have a lot in common with was EXACTLY what I needed. It felt so good to have that again. Yay

OK enough typing... I promise pictures by friday

12:58PM - Thanksgiving Festivities

What a great weekend!!!! Due to my work week being fri-thurs, I used my 3 days off last week and my 3 days off this week all in a row making today my first day of work in 6 days! I had Wednesday - Sunday off, which was GREAT!!! Nothing like a mini holiday weekend vacation! So much went on, so I'll give you as much of an update as I can.

Wednesday Kasey came to play with me, which is always good. We drove around Austin, went shopping and picked out stuff for my baby shower on Dec 17th. We also had lunch at Hula Hut (YUM!) Basically a great afternoon. Then I went to dinner with Cereno and her mom. Her mom used to be my boss when I worked at the apartment complex and after we both quit the apartment complex at the same time she moved to Arizona so I hadnt seen her in a long time. We had dinner at Cheddars and it was great bonding!!!

Thursday was Thanksgiving. Jay and I slept in really late, then watched TV in bed till noon, then we got ready to go to my Aunts. We watched the Dallas game and ate turkey, ham, potatoes, etc etc... it was delicious! We stayed over there until about 7. My cousin Allison's daughter Maureen is now 2 and it was way fun watching her run around. I cant wait till next year when I have a rugrat to run around. After dinner we did nothing, which is always good.

Friday my mom came to Austin. We drove around all day looking at home builders. The second I found out I was pregnant I convinced her to move to Austin. My sister and I both live in Austin and soon my mothers only grandchild will live in Austin, so it seemed to make sense. She found a house she loved, so fingers crossed she will get it. After house hunting we did the grocery shopping and then went home and crashed. We were exhausted!

Saturday morning was my first baby shower! We got up super early and cleaned and cooked. Everyone showed up about 11 and we had eggs bennedict and milk punch and fruit salad. Then we opened presents (my fav part!) My grandma got me the hooded bathrobe with the doggy ears that I loved and I also got a bunch of books and puzzles and super cute clothes. Then my aunt, uncle and cousins chipped in and all got me the travel system (stroller and infant carrier for those not hip to the baby lingo). It was awesome!!!! After the shower we cleaned up and went back to the home builder that my mom liked and she tried to work out an offer on the house. Its still pending, but we should know in the next week or two if she is going to be buying it!!!

Then we went to San Antonio. All my friends from HS (that could make it) got together at our fav old hangout, Alamo Cafe. We ate, everyone but me drank, and we all had a great time. I love seeing all of them, however I could tell it was weird for some of them to see my with my little pregnant buddha belly, but then again I am the first to have a baby so its all new to them. I said to cereno "just think, next year there will be a high chair at the end of the table". Crazy huh?

Yesterday topped all the other days. My In-Laws came to Austin for a post-thanksgiving dinner. My MIL kept commenting on how the only thing about me that looks pregnant is the belly but even at 6 months she can barely notice it when I have a baggy t-shirt on. She was like "your glowing, you look amazing!" so that was a definite plus. We had dinner, talked, showed her the baby stuff, etc etc... it was awesome. At 4 they had to drive back to Houston, so I watched some tv. At 7 pm Jay and I put on "The DaVinci Code" (pretty cool movie, I thought) then watched "Ice Age". Finally we went to bed. It was such a relaxing night, except Jason decided the practice for his stint as a Soccer Player on my stomach for like 45 minutes, but Jay did get to feel him kick for the first time :)

Today I am back to work. Got to get everything in order for all the holiday parties coming up and get myself organized for December. I am way excited about this coming month, so I want it to be 100% together so that it is easy. Who says the holidays have to be stressful??? Anyway, back to work, hope yall enjoyed the random update and I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

6:07PM - YAY!!!

Today has been such a great day! This is the first day in awhile I have been like YES, what a great awesome day!

Jay had a really big deal interview with David Weekly Homes today. They pay A LOT more than he is currently making and thats just the base pay. That doesnt even include commissions! I think he would be amazing at this job! He did very well, got along with the interviewer like they were old buddies, and already got scheduled for his aptitude/personality test. Jay always does really well on those so *fingers crossed*.

Another thing that made today great is last week I booked this party for this coming Friday. I am going to make a lot of money off of it, which is great, but normally we require 3 weeks advanced notice, so I had one week to get this party that is costing several grand and I pulled it off, and the guy paying for the party was really excited to have EVERY detail taken care of in less than one week. I know, I rock!

I also found out today that tomorrow Jay and I are being treated to a celebratory dinner (in honor of Jason) by a really good friend of ours at a really nice restaurant... the kind that we never go to because we cant warrant dropping that much money on dinner, but Anthony is like ubber-rich, so YAY! I am going to dress up all super cute and I am going to love the hell out of it!

This weekend was fun too. Sunday we played golf with Jennifer & Sheridan and then had dinner with them. I love catching up with people, and I LOVE playing golf with my friends :) Yesterday Melinda and her friend Lil Jen came over and we cooked dinner (we went old school and made sloppy joes... heck yes!) and we watched TV. Yay.

Tonight is lazy night (time to catch up on my DVR watching!), tomorrow is dinner with anthony, thursday I have the day off which will consist of a great workout and cleaning the house, Friday is my super money making private event at work, then Sat I have off and will be attending a co-workers baby shower and Sunday will be the best day to top it all off. My mommy and her boyfriend are coming to play golf with me :) My mom loves golf and is so happy I decided to pick it up as a hobby and has been dying to play with me. After we play we are going to plan my baby shower for my dad's side of the family that takes place Nov. 25th. Seriously... could this week get ANY better???

I cant wait for the holidays. They are gonna rock so much this year :) OK Im out...

2:49PM - Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams...

Yay a post from Ashley! Hoorah! I know, it's been awhile, but I just can't get myself to post when I don't have good information to share and it's been awhile since everything has been good, but I am now almost over everything and have definitely moved to a better place and am ready to enjoy things again...

October has been a pretty fun month work wise. So many events and lots of time with kids. We have started these things called Preschooler's Nite Out/Kids Nite Out/Teen Nite Out and I get to work all of them. Basically every Friday night a different age group comes to the club for about 3-4 hours and we do fun stuff. Tonight is another Preschoolers Nite Out (my favorite). I have always been good with kids but after I got pregnant I got really nervous about being around children so it's awesome that I am getting paid to practice being with kids and taking care of them! We also had a German Oktoberfest party, a Pumpkin Carving contest and this Sunday is the Great Pumpkin party... Lots of fun! Next month won't be very busy due to it being the holidays but December is shaping up nicely. I was given a very valued go-ahead from my GM and have already booked 2 VERY high priced private holiday parties for mid December... I love extra money around Christmas... never a bad thing!!!

Now time for baby news... I am currently today 19 weeks (halfway done! YAY!) I had an OBGYN appt last Thursday. They weighed me and I havent gained a pound!!! My doc is very impressed as am I! Yay for a very healthy pregnancy! Anyway, we did the normal check up and listened to the heartbeat. I was supposed to do an ultrasound but the machine was being worked on so it was changed to Tuesday. This was the all important sex identification ultrasound so I was super nervous... anyway... it turns out the little monster in my belly is a BOY!!! YAY! His name is Jason Gregory Wood. I love calling him Jason or "him" instead of "it" or "the baby". But this also makes him so much more real. He has a name and a gender... crazy! All I can say is the next 4 months better go by so quick or I am going to kill someone :) At least the holidays will make it go faster...

Not much else going on. Just trying to make a lot of time for myself and enjoy this. Once Jason is born I won't have much "Ashley" time so I have to get in as much as possible right now. Also, I am trying to get together everything for my upcoming baby showers and finishing the registry (which is my favorite part of this pregnancy!!!). Oh I have also taken up golf. I used to think it was stupid but now I enjoy it. I still am hoping to move sometime soon but Jay has an interview with David Weekly Homes and we think they have an incentive program for their employees to live in DW Homes at a nicely discounted rate so we are waiting to hear about that before making any moves as of right now...

OK time to work on some private event planning...

4:02PM - Whew....

Yeah I know it's been awhile. I havent posted because in this past month the powers that be decided to throw almost every single possible scenario at me to see how I can handle myself. It keeps reminding me of these two quotes that I use to make it through life and I thought I would share...

"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow"."

"Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength"

I feel I have epitomized the latter quote to a T... I have learned more about myself and who I am this month. The one I am most proud of was I had a dear friend who had an accident and I was by her side from the second she called me and I took care of her for as long as I could. I always new I was caring and that I liked to help people but I never ever knew that put in the situation I would step up that much. Well anyway, I've made it over the mountain and am ready to enjoy the way back down the hill. If I could handle this month I can handle anything... especially a BABY!!!!

OBGYN appt #3 was on Friday. The doctor talked to me for 5 seconds then tried to find the heartbeat with the doppler. We couldnt find it so she suggested an ultrasound which Jay and I jumped at. We saw the baby and it was the coolest weirdest thing I had ever seen! I was like OMG there is a human being growing inside of me... but at the same time it was like wow, my child is growing inside of me... it was crazy!!!

Well next week I hope to have a little more up beat post, but until then remember...

3:07PM - It’s all a part of who we are and the life we live

80's nite was awesome! Everyone around the club is saying it is THE best party Twin Creeks has EVER thrown *takes a little bow*. Hehe. I was pulled aside by both my supervisor and the GM and told what a great job I did organizing it and the set-up and stuff, so YAY! I have the best job ever...

This week is pretty low key until Monday. Today through Thursday is just playing catch up. Friday we have a flamingo party (its this weird thing where people put those lawn flamingos in the yard of who ever is having the party that night, and we have this Friday... I dont really understand) and I have a small private party saturday. Sunday I have off and Monday is our Labor Day pool party. Its pretty much an exact replica of 4th of July, but it is the last BIG deal event of the summer, so should be fun. Once it is over I get to start working on my own stuff and developing the private event aspect of the club, which is what I am really excited about!

Enough about work. Last week was fun. My Father In Law came into town and there was lots of bonding. He came in Wednesday. Thursday him, Jay, and my dad played golf at the country club I work at. They loved it! Said it was gorgeous! (Plus they played a private course for free... the best part!). Friday we saw a movie together. It was great to see him.

Also on Thursday was my 2nd OBGYN appt. Pretty uneventful. She asked how I was feeling, etc, and said all was normal. We used the doppler to try to hear the heartbeat (my doctor doesnt believe in using ultrasounds until 18 weeks) but we couldnt hear it. She said it was probably going to be too early so she set me up with an appt on the 15th of Sept. when I will be 13 weeks and have a much better chance of hearing it. All of my pregnancy symptoms are pretty much gone except I feel bloaty. I just feel like I always ate too much. You know that feeling after a huge dinner when you feel like you need to loosen your belt? Thats how I feel, but I dont have the beginnings of a bump yet. I also have started craving fruit like a mad woman. Saturday I had an apple and thought it was gods gift to my stomach. Since then I have just wanted fruit all the time, so yesterday I got some watermelon, bananas, plums, grapes and apples. YUM! The plum in my lunch bag is calling to me right now... "eat me..."

So how is everyone? Enough about me... I want to hear about you :) I'm out!

4:41PM - pickles and ice cream? hehhe

Last week was crazy. I am so glad it is over and I am done with all that had to do with last week. I am taking today to get little stuff done but tomorrow I jump right back in the deep end getting ready for two major parties this coming weekend. Someone thought it would be a good idea to schedule an adult party till 11 on saturday and then a "back to school pool party" on sunday at 11. So yeah... only 12 hours between the 2 which has to involve ALL clean up for the one the night before, going home, sleep, shower, then back to work, then full set up for the next party! GEEZ! ridiculous! It wouldnt be so bad except I am the main person in charge of the set up and clean up, so my job comes in the 3 hours before and hour and a half after each event, making this coming weekend a madhouse... Oh well 80's night will rock especially since we are having an atari hooked up in the main room... hehe... space invaders anyone?

My head has been hurting like crazy today. I have started working in my office with the lights off. Im sure its not good for my eyes to sit in the dark with just one window and stare at a computer screen but the florescent light hurts worse, so the lesser of two evils will have to suffice. My nasea (sp?) is calming down but is being replaced with excessively strong hunger pains but very picky cravings. Pickles, soft serve frozen yogurt, pizza and ruffles with ranch dip (from HEB) are the only 4 things that sound even remotly appetizing. I have tried to stick a few trips to Jasons Deli in there to add in salads and some good tomato soup to be healthier, so im sure that helps, and I eat a lot of fruit, but I know im not getting all the vitamins I need. I also have to go get my prenatal vitamin prescription filled ASAP.

I have my second OBGYN appt thursday and im so excited because we should be able to hear the heartbeat and I will probably get my first ultrasound (if I do I will scan and post the pics when I get home). It will seem so much more real when there is an actual heart beat and physical proof that the baby is there and its not just me feeling ill...

Yesterday I had a badass time. The Dee Gees at TxState had their recruitment show off for friends/family/alum and kasey, elisa, and I went. When we got there we found Andrea so it was like a Fall 01 reunion. The house looked cute, the skit was cute.. it made me sad that I wasnt in college anymore, but then it made me so happy I was done with recruitment! After the show off we picked up Nikki and went to Bennigans and talked and bonded. It was wonderful! I miss those girls. I loved in college how I had a built in night of the week to see them, and I wish I still did, but oh well, we grow up and keeping in touch is hard. I am glad that I have made the effort with these girls though.

After I got back to RR I went to Mel's apt (which is all unpacked and adorable) and we watched Bring It On 3: All or Nothing (yeah dont ask... i LOVE crappy so bad they are good movies) and waited for the cousins. Lea got back from Costa Rica Saturday and is leaving for Northeastern University in Boston for her freshman year this coming Sunday so we had to see her. Several hours of Gin Rummy later it was great catching up. She is soooo tan! I am so glad she loved Costa Rica. Shes so worldly now, hehe.

Anyway, gotta finish some things so I can go home and get some pizza (YUM).... have a great week!

1:18PM - Every day, a page turned down...

Wow! 2 updates in one week? AMAZING! How did you all get so lucky???

So I learned this weekend that I apparently have a bunch of LJ stalkers who read my LJ too keep up with the 411 on my life... I was kinda like "whoa, people actually read that?" and then I got voted best LJ entry content by Mateo, so it was very funny. I would like everyone stalking my LJ to do me a favor... leave me a comment just so I know WHO is stalking me :) If you dont have LJ it's alright, just comment as anonymous but make sure and tell me your name. If I don't get a bunch of comments I am going to start friends filtering my entries... so COMMENT!

Anywhoo... Tuesday Melinda moved into her apartment. She is so happy with it! It's a beautiful place and I must say I did a BADASS job locating it for her! She is all set up and decorated and even has a semi-full fridge! Yay for her growing up! Now she just needs a job, hehe.

Friday was super fun. My friend Evan JUST bought a house and his birthday was last week so he had a house-warming/birthday party. I got to see so many people! Mateo and Cathy were in town from Boston & Chicago (respectively) and Jennifer came from college station and Myk from San Antonio. Add in Evan, Aneesa, Cereno & Katie and there was some crazyness going on. All the kiddos drank (a lot) cept me and Myk who just laughed at everyone and Jennifer & Aneesa who didnt really drink much. I stayed till 2 am! Latest I have been out in awhile (geez Im old!). Had lot of great conversations and catching up. We need to do that stuff more often!

Saturday I was sooo lazy! I didnt get out of bed till near 2, then I picked up the house, then got groceries.. then I got a great surprise! Lindsay came to visit!!! We only hung out for 1/2 and hour but any time getting to spend with her is cool (shes studying for the LSAT pretty much 24/7 and when shes not studying shes asleep or at work!). Her boyfriend was working in RR and they had lunch together and she said it would suck to go all the way to RR and not see me! YAY!

Today is so lame. In 30 minutes I have to go sit out by the pool for an hour while little kids makes Smores (yes its apparently National Smores Day... seriously people... come on!) But then I am going to go home and veg some more or maybe see a movie with Kate. Yay. Monday is work, but Tuesday I go to San Antonio to give my mom back her dog and to gets some things from my dad. PLUS I am going to eat at Alamo Cafe! YUM. Anyone in SA wanna come with? Wednesday is Diva Day at the club. We are going to have a buffet and all the women in the club are going to lie by the pool and get really drunk! Who knows on Thursday and I am probably taking Friday off. We will see...

OK now I am rambling... I'll stop now... COMMENT BITCHES!!!

3:23PM - To tell the truth, I think we're the chosen few...

So much has happened since my last entry! I will do my best to catch everyone up...

On July 28th I went to my first OBGYN appt. I was so worried about not being comfortable with the doctor and getting halfway through this pregnancy without a doctor I felt good about, but Dr. Southmayd was awesome! I was very comfortable with her, but her nurse kinda brought on nerves... 1 doctor down there I can handle, but 2 is another story! We determined my due date to be March 22, 2007 making me 7 weeks and 3 days pregnant today. First 2 months are almost over! YAY! She said everything is right on track with no huge issues so thats good.

The next day was a super important day! All month me and the activities director, Crystal, had been planning for Margaritaville, a HUGE party for all the members. I had been in charge of ALL the decorations and the atmosphere. It looked awesome! I'm still waiting for some of the pictures to show people what a badass I am at decorating for parties and when I get them I will be sure to post them! The party was a ton of fun and everyone was showering the staff with compliments. It felt awesome to be a part of that. Made me feel like I am right where I need to be with my career. YAY

Last week I just did the normal working, nothing exciting to note until Friday. Jay & I spent all day Friday cleaning the house for a party we had on Saturday. We had everything cleaned and had just got back from grocery shopping when I began to feel the onset of a UTI (if you know what that is then you feel my pain, if you dont, dont ask, your probably a male and you dont want to know! trust me!) So I was freaked out and called my doctor who sent me to the ER. Yikes! After 3 hours and a ridiculous $100 co-pay I had some nice antibiotics. Its weird because I get them a lot and in the past I would have just taken some AZO, chugged some cranberry juice and curled up in bed. But with the baby it's like I have to think about 2 people for everything I do. It's stressful, but it will be worth it.

Anyway, Saturday I ran a party for a member's child's birthday in the morning then ran home to get ready. At 7 about 20 of our really good friends came to our house for a BBQ. It was so much fun. We saw people we hadnt seen since the wedding! I wish we werent all so busy and could do things like that more often.Only thing that sucked was I didnt have a drop of alcohol and Sunday I woke up with more hangover like symptoms than anyone else (headache, naseous, lightheaded). I was so mad that Jay who had polished off an entire 12 pack of Corona was able to jump out of bed over an hour before I could bring myself to attempt it. Silly pregnancy!

Sunday I ran another party for another member then Jay and I went to see Talledega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. It was very funny, very similar to Anchor Man but I was sad about the lack of Cameos. In every "frat pack" movie there is cameos by the other guys in the "frat pack" and there wasnt a SINGLE one! It was weird.

Today I work, nothing exciting, but tomorrow is when some more fun starts. Melinda (my little sister) moves into her first apartment tomorrow here in Austin. I am going to work until her and my dad get into town with the UHaul, then it's off to help. That night my mom gets into town tohelp Mel put together her furniture and to hang out with us. All day Wednesday is helping Melinda unpack, set-up and get everything she needs for her adorable new apt. Should be fun! I love unpacking!!!! Then Thursday/Friday I work, then Friday night is Evan's birthday/house warming party! Another night of everyone drinking except me (but it's OK, I dont have to drink to have fun, so its not as hard as I thought it would be!) so that will be super fun!!!

I guess thats all thats really going on right now... How are yall?

1:06PM - Hehehehehe....

Well since my last entry life has just been flipped completly around, but in a good way. I have been successful of no fast food, alcohol or soda, just like I vowed, until Saturday (the 22nd). What made me deviate? I am no longer on Weight Watchers. Sad, yes, but for a very good reason...

Saturday morning I was talking on AIM to my friend Aneesa. I mentioned that I had just made grilled cheese and tomato soup (one of my fav meals) and it tasted horrible. She said "hopefully your not getting sick" and I said "I don't think thats it". So she says "when was your last TOM?" I respond with "June 15th". Then there was silence. I ran into the bathroom and took a pregnancy test and in 5 seconds... BAM a positive reading! I was a complete mix of excited and completely freaked out. I told Jay I was going to the store and got 2 more different brands of pregnancy tests and a little blue bear that said "I love my daddy" and 2 bibs saying "I love my grandma/grandpa". I got home and took 2 more tests and BAM... positive again! One of them was digital and actually said "Pregnant". *SQUEE*

So I walked into the room Jay was in and handed him a gift bag with the bear in it. He looked at it and said "what does this mean?" I said "what do you think?" He said "It's a baby toy" so I gave him a look that says "Duh". He looked at it, smiled and said "Really? Like Really, really really?" So I told him about the 3 tests and he demanded to see them. He looked at them and said... "that one says pregnant, that one says pregnant, and the third one DEFINITLY says pregnant! (then he paused) You know this means your not getting another dog right?" Hehehe.

So after making a bajillion phone calls and all that fun stuff I drove to San Antonio to tell my parents. I figure the discovery of their first grandchild was not phone call information. When I gave my dad the "grandpa" bib he said "Ohh! I've always wanted grandchildren! You get to spoil them then send em home when your tired of them!" My mom kinda freaked out. She kept saying "I'm not old enough to be a grandmother!" (keep in mind shes 57!) My sister is almost more excited than anyone and keeps saying "Aunt Melinda has a nice ring to it"

The overall response has been great. I was so excited (because we know I have wanted a baby forever and now is such a good time for us) but some people were very, i guess, rude about it. I got asked "is this a good or a bad thing" by almost everyone. Seriously. Why would it be a bad thing? I'll be 24 when it's born, I have a nice house, I have been married a year next week, I have an amazing job, as does my husband, and we both are ready. OBVIOUSLY this is a great thing! Just because we werent intentionally trying by ovulation cycles and all that business doesn't make this any less of a happy occasion. My mom kept saying this is a different age. Women sometimes never have kids, much less reach the point in their life where they are ready at the same point I did. But still... it's called ettiquette follks!

I have my first pre-natal appointment on Thursday. I'm very nervous. I already told my supervisor at work and he thought it was really cool so *whew* on the revealing of the baby. That was the most worrysome part since I am so new, but I told them my plan to come back after the first 4 weeks and they said that sounds perfect to them, so yay! Now I just have to get through the next 8 or so months which will put the delivery date in late March or early April. I will keep yall updated :) YAY FOR BABY WOOD! <3

Current mood: So excited!

11:01AM - "I had a ball on Friday, Saturday & Sunday...."

Well I have now officially been at my new job almost 2 whole weeks! I still love it. I got my own desk last week and today I raided the supplies closet to stock my desk! YAY!

4th of July was a great party! Over 200 people came to the pool and the whole thing ran so smooth! However, I did get a sunburn and that sucked a lot! But then it rained so I went home and relaxed and enjoyed the day.

Last weekend was nice. Melinda (my sister) turned 20, so I went to San Antonio to hang out with her. I got to SA about 3 and had a late lunch with my dad at Alamo Cafe (his birthday is Wed but I have to work so I took him for an early b-day lunch). I also got him a really gorgeous polo shirt from the Twin Creeks Pro Shop. Then I went to visit my mom and see her new puppy. She got a Pug and named him Sancho, but I am calling him Nibbler because he looks like the space monkey/cat/dog/pet from Futurerama (and he bites everything!). Afterward I met up with Mel. Every year for her birthday she takes herself, me, and 6 of her best female friends to dinner at Magic Time Machine and then has a party. Dinner was hilarious. We had King Arthur and the Tooth Fairy as our waiters!

Then Mel's party began... it was crazy fun. Her friend Ken and I always bond at her birthdays so we got 2 bottles of champagne, 2 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc wine and a 4 pack of wine coolers and between the 2 of us finished every ounce! Melinda drank about 15 beers herself. Around 3 as people started to leave mel got sick so we put her in bed then me and Matt sat outside and talked about siblings and school and futures and stuff. At 4:45 am we decided to go on a food run to Taco Cabana. When we got back Melinda was not on the bed, but on the floor. We tried to get her back on the bed but she fought us, so we left her on the floor. About 5:30 I crawled into bed! At 8 am I felt Melinda crawl into the bed I was in and grab my pajama shorts and try to pull them over her like a blanket! I pushed her and she got mad and slept on the couch. The next day she was like "what happened? How did I get on the couch!" It was so funny.

After I woke up at 11 I went to Austin and worked from 2:30 to 7. At 7 Jay, myself, and a whole bunch of people went to see Pirates of the Caribean 2. It was good. A little too much emphasis on the CGI graphics and a little creepy, but still really enjoyable. After the movie Jay & I met up with our friends Jen, Sheridan, Eric & Lani for Eric's B-day on 6th street. After a little Soho and some Maggie Mae's it was off to bed after 2 nights of drunken fun! Sunday I was so sluggish from the alcohol, it was sad. I went to The Loft to hang with Cousin Kate and we watched a Project Runway Marathon and some cheesy TV. Then I was off to the gym to sweat out the alcohol!!!

Today I'm back at work. Lots of fun :) The rest of this week I am going to get back on track with my Weight Watchers diet. I was doing so well then went on a rollercoaster of emotions and being an emotional eater I destroyed all progress I had made, so it's back to being hardcore again!  I have also vowed to not consume alcohol, fast food or sodas until my 1 year anniversary camping trip (more on that later) so hopefully the lack of those 3 vices will kick in and boost my efforts! Anyway, thats enough for today!!!

1:03PM - "I can't believe it's happening to me! Some people wait a lifetime..."

Well a lot has happened since my last real update over a month ago... time to catch you up!

Right after I found out I got the job at 24 Hour Fitness I saw a posting for an event coordinator job at a country club in Austin. I crossed my fingers and sent in my resume. Well almost 2 weeks later I was getting ready to start at 24HF but decided to give it another shot. I emailed my resume a second time on May 31st. The next morning at 9:30 am Craig called from the country club to set up an interview. I was tubing at the time (too much fun!) and was a little drunk so I waited a day to return the call. Friday I called him back and set-up an interview for Monday June 5th. The next 2 days were a blur of trying to find the PERFECT outfit to wear to an interview at a Country Club. I finally found it at Dillards. It was from the new Reba McIntire collection (she has a clothing line? What? thats what i said, but seriously the clothes are gorgeous!). I settles on the peach silk top (on the left) and the flowly peach & pink skirt (on the right) with (of course) a pearl necklace & earrings.

Well the interview was amazing. Craig and I talked like old college buddies. He was a Pi Kappa Alpha in college and (luckily) was he has a bunch of friends who were DeeGees and he competed in Anchor Splash (which was one of the main events I had on my resume). We alughed and talked and he showed me around and started introducing me to everyone. Then he tells me 70 people sent in resumes, only 20 got interviews and I was so far #14 but the only one so far who was told AT their interview that they were getting a second one!

After the interview I went to San Antonio to be with my mom. She had to have surgery on a herniated disc. It was pretty scary but she came out 100% perfectly. If I can say one thing about my mom is she is a tough lady! Well the next day Craig called me to set up my 2nd interview time. I went in Thursday June 8th to interview with Stu, the General Manager. This interview didn't go as well since Stu is a lot more serious than Craig, but it still went great!

The rest of that weekend was me biting my nails and stuffing my face because I was SOOO nervous! I was supposed to start 24HF on 14th so I waited for the call. Wednesday morning, right before I was supposed to call to 24HF as to what time I would be coming in, Craig called and offered me the job!!! After breaking-up with 24HF (well thats what it felt like) I was very ready for my new adventure!!!

On the 18th I went to San Antonio and took my dad out for father's day then spent the 19th with my mom who bought me a ton of gorgeous "I work at a Country Club" kind of clothes! My parents are so proud of me getting this job. Not only is it a great job and opportunity, its what I want to do with the rest of my life. I never ever thought that I would be getting into event planning this soon. I figured I'd work sales or marketing for a few years then gradually try to reach the position of event planner, but no, at the age of 23 I have found my life calling, my career, the job I show up at and say "I love my job" and leave at the end of the day still saying "I love my job!" I know people who are retired who never got that chance, and I have it! It is the greatest thing for my ego and my self esteem. I am on cloud 9 24/7! Only thing is I keep wondering "i hope they made the right decision". I know I am good at this, I know I am organized and creative and everything like that, but to beat out 70 people at my age. It's a bit much to take in, but that definitely won't stop me from doing this job. It will just make me work that much harder just to be the very best and to prove they chose the best person for the job!

Well I started on Wednesday the 28th (after passing a drug test, background check & physical (yeah I know... I'm talking real physical, the kind where you have to wear the stupid hospital gown and touch your toes and jog a little bit)). So far I have done so many fun things! My first day I did paperwork and toured and learned how things work. Thursday I spent the whole day shopping for 4th of July decorations and running errands. Friday I ran the coolest event... Manicures & Martinis. We had a lot of the women members come and we had some people giving manicures and me and Dylan (the restaurant supervisor) served them martinis and snacks. It was so fun! PLUS this morning when I got in Craig had already recieved 4 compliments on how well it went! Today I am clearing out my office and getting my supplies organized!

Tomorrow I am off, then Monday & Tues are crazy due to the 4th of July. On the 4th we have this huge extravaganza that lasts from 11 am till 10 pm, so a 14 hour day on Tues for me! Wed I'm off and Thurs I run my very first pool party all on my own. Friday I am going to San Antonio for Melinda's Birthday and Saturday we have a Teen Pool party I am in charge of setting up and decorating! Whew!

My life rocks... that's all I gotta say. PLUS I get to look super cute at work everyday! I love every second of this (even the fact that when I get home I am so exhausted I pretty much collapse into bed!). Well that's enough of an update! I promise not to wait so long between now and the next one! Have a great 4th of July!
